This grainy moment frees itself from the grip of memory and anticipation. This grainy moment is all I have. It’s beautiful in its harshness. The blinding light tenderly forces me to see what is. Not what I think about it, not what I wish from it but what this moment really, deeply, is.
Don’t be at war with your body. Don’t be at war with your mind. Don’t be at war with your feelings. Don’t be at war with others. Don’t be at war with the world.
Give divine gratitude for having been awarded a body. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Do you realize how rare it is to have a human body? It’s the greatest prize of all.
You could have been a mosquito or a shrimp. Instead you get to experience the world with knowledge and evaluation of that knowledge.
You have a human body on a tiny planet in this endless universe.
Wow. That stops every silliness right there.
From that perspective take a look at yourself and your so called struggles. Take a look at the world and its so called struggles. Doesn’t it seem insane that we should be wasting this precious gift with condemnation, hatred, entitlement, fear? That we should be wasting it on fights about who is right, more right, less right, most wrong?
Wouldn’t it make more sense to celebrate every single day? To celebrate yourself and other beings in other bodies?
We get to be here! Lets’ not waste it. Not wasting it doesn’t mean you have to do a gazillion things to fix it all. Everything is not on your shoulders. The world will change when enough people in it has changed. How can any one person make that come about?
Ignorance isn’t necessarily dispelled by facts, as you know. Facts are easy to dispute, especially when they don’t match our beliefs. (Everybody does this, not just “others”). Change comes from within. Change comes when we remember that we are human and divine in equal parts, when we remember that life is an enormous gift. When you know this you don’t have to rely on beliefs or opinions for anything.
The greatest contribution you can give to the world is to make that shift in you. Outer change will follow.
Not wasting your life simply means to know, and always remember, how amazing it is to have been given life in the form of a human body.
The secret to happiness is to always, always remember this.
This being makes the best of every day. She is happy in her body and she has only love to give. She is full of excitement about everything that happens and greats everyone with joy, no matter who they are. Every day is fresh, every disappointment immediately forgotten. So much to learn from animals.
When you can be with all aspects of yourself without condemning or running away, you are in meditation whatever you happen to be doing. When you stop trying to improve yourself (ironically bad habits have a tendency to fall off by themselves when you stop obsessing about them), you notice that the whole improvement game was designed to keep you imprisoned.
Eat healthy, work out, be good–all of those demands enslave you even though you might think you will be free once you achieve your ideals. You won’t. You will just feel empty because those goals were false to begin with. At least if it was some kind of happiness you were looking for.
Sure, take care of your body but don’t be its’ slave. Be good but don’t make it into a “thing” to be proud of.
What I say is really simple. It’s worth trying. Just be who you are and see what happens. Sit with yourself. Pay attention to yourself.
Or perhaps you feel that it’s others that need to change. That they are impossible and wrong. Wherever your telescope is pointing towards it is yourself that you see. It’s just another way for you to imprison yourself. Leave others alone. They do what they need to do. For whatever reason. Just like you.
If you choose to stop running, if you choose to be who you are, you will travel through a confusing jungle of shoulds, musts, have tos–fears and desires–before you come out in the clearing of yourself. Just keep going.
In the end you will find that nothing needs changing. Not yourself, not others. Then you won’t meditate to achieve something. You will meditate spontaneously because it feesl so darn good. You will love your body because it gives you pleasure but you won’t be its slave. You will enjoy the world but it won’t frighten you. It will set you free.
Now you have become a beacon of light in the world because you are grounded in yourself. You are authentic and true. For the forst time you can trust yourself fully because your heart is your guide. Not your ideas, not your emotions, nothing outside you. Your heart. Your heart sings with a clear voice and you will hear it as soon as you close your eyes.
Maybe you feel that I am totally wrong. After all there are so many wrongs with yourself and/or the world. Maybe you feel that there are so many things you have to fix before you can be happy.
I’m telling you it’s not true. You are what you need. You are already complete as you are. All you need to do is listen. All you need to do is trust. All you need to do is to drop what was never you–thoughts, feelings, ideas, beliefs, opinions, hopes that have invaded you from the outside since birth.
You are not your body. You are not your thoughts. You are not your feelings. You are not your ideas. You are not your beliefs. You are not your opinions. You are not your hopes.
You are beyond all of that.
All you need to do is walk through that jungle without getting distracted. Walk towards your light. Trust yourself, that which is beyond your thoughts, feelings etc. You won’t get lost. Allow yourself to be your own guide. Trust and be fearless in your trust.
If you are on a spritual path everything that happens to you has deep meaning. It’s what you need and what’s best for you, wether it’s good or bad.
This is only true if you are serious about finding out what you are. If you are not on spritiual path you can rage all you want. Just continue to get angry, hurt or offended when things don’t go your way. You have all the right to do that.
But if you are on a spirtitual path you find that everything that happens has relevance. You never blame anyone for anything because you see the bigger picture.
If you are on a spiritual path no one is wrong and no one has wronged you. They just are where they are and express whatever they are able to express.
Everyone is where they are. Everyone express the love they are capable of expressing. No more, no less.
If you are on a spiritual path you never feel you are better than anyone else. As a spiritual being you know you are the same as the beggar on the street and presidents.
There are levels of ignorance but the truth is the truth. We are all the same.
When you are on a spiritual path you take everytning in stride because you have agreed to be taught. You have decided that growing is more important than getting what you want or being right.
The magnetism of the world has lost its power to attract you.
You will be tested.
You will be thoroughly tested.
You will have to show that you are sincere.
You will have to show that you trust.
It will hurt but you are able to see beyond. You allow life to teach you.
You don’t choose spirituality in order to get what you want. If you choose spirituality to satisfy your desires, whether they are spiritual, sexual or material, you may get what you want but you won’t be spiritual and eventually the dream will crash. Then you might start on your true journey.
Don’t create a spiritual persona. Just be who you are. Don’t identify with your emotions. Just watch what happens.
Spirituality and desire, unless it is of God, is mutually exclusive. As simple as that. There’s nothing wrong with desire. But it’s not spiritual.
If you want money or sex or things, go on, desire it. Enjoy it or miss it. Live it. Love it. Then when you are thorougly satisfied or thoroughly disappointed, God or spirituality is there for you.
Material success is not a proof of the goodness of your soul. Renuniciation is not a proof ot the goodness of your soul either. The goodness of your soul needs no proof. You are it. What proof do you need to know you are?
Imagine being born into a human body.
Imagine that this body is independent; it walks, it talks.
Imagine that this body can observe the universe and its place in it.
Imagine that this body can love.
Imagine how old the universe is.
Imagine how young the body is.
Imagine the enormous brevity of a life.
Imagine the enormous waste that is going on.
The waste is: not knowing who you are.
The waste is: not bringing love with every single breath.
The waste is: not enjoying the miracle of having been born into a human consciousness.
The waste is: fighting others in any way.
Imagine what life would be like if no one had time for anger.
Imagine what life would be like if all we ever cared for was love.
We have been allotted a tiny place in the history of the universe.
Let’s spend it wisely.

If we just try to be aware.
It's really easy.
In every single moment there is a choice.
Meditation is the easiest thing in the world, anyone can do it. If you can sit you can meditate. If you exist you can meditate! Meditation is just being. It’s ignoring anything that is not essential for you to know that you exist.
Meditation is experiencing your own beingness. That’s all. It’s a beautiful experience. Full of joy and freedom. In the beginning it's a temporary relief from anything that has ever bugged you.
I say temporary, but if you meditate regularly the bugs will drop away by themselves.
At first it can be hard to be still. The mind rebels. Then let it! Just observe what it does, how it’s trying to make you stop. The mind is extremely creative in trying to make you not meditate. I have no idea why. Actually, I know why. It’s because meditation shows the mind that it is not as almighty as it likes to think. There is another part of you that is far more powerful.
The part that is what you essentially ARE. The part that has nothing to do with any preferences or personality you may have. (I know, we have all learned that having a great personality is something to strive for. It can be. As long as you know that it's not you.)
Meditation gives you profound relaxation. It can also give you profound insights that will be sort of downloaded to your mind.
The first step of meditation is just trying to find your core. The second step is to experience that core and the third step is to live in that core always. This process can take years. But it’s not the goal that counts. It’s the search. The search never stops.
The sincerity of the search is everything.
A few years ago I used to have a very regular meditation practice. I was at stage two and was deeply experiencing my core. Nothing could disturb me. I was fully aware of my surroundings but also fully absorbed in my core. My kids were then around five and sometimes one of them used to come up to me and sit on my lap. They just sat there in silence, completely still, before running off to do more interesting things. It was as if they naturally tapped into my state. Those moments were intensely powerful, loving and sweet. They enhanced my meditation.
Other times they were more mischievous and would start poking me, pulling my arms or opening my eyelids. I just let them play with my meditating body, still in deep absorption. They soon got tired of teasing me and I felt as loving as when they were sitting in silence.
Meditation is not about being “gone”. It’s about being fully aware. So aware that there is nothing between you and your core. No words, no thoughts, no disturbing feelings. Just pure beingness, pure love, pure freedom - which is also a way of describing your core. I have no need to disappear into some oblivion. I remain in pure presence, fully open to the world. I love it when people talk to me while I meditate. Sometimes I even answer! :-D
These days I just flow in and out of meditation constantly. Almost anything can evoke a deep meditative state, two minutes and I'm in it. I’m always with my core, fully experiencing everything life throws my way; fully experiencing myself experiencing life. That way almost anything becomes interesting. Even boredom.
Another thing that meditation brings: you don't react anymore. You act. Automatic reaction is the hallmark of the smaller you. Deliberate action, or non-action, is the hallmark of the wiser you. Life just becomes easier, less complication.
Try a short, guided meditation below. It's just over six minutes long. You can use it as a short relaxation meditation or you can use it as a start to a longer meditation on your own. Remember, meditation is just sitting. It's being with what is.

Tips for setting up a meditation practice:
Live fully, love fully, grieve fully. There is no cure for the human condition. Don’t try to fix anything. Don’t try to get a certain outcome. There is no cure for the human condition. Accept things as they are. Accept others as they are. There is no cure for the human condition. Know that aversion is always attached to desire as two sides of the same coin. Do what you must but remember that everything is just a game.
Don’t try to be perfect. Don’t expect others to be perfect. Don’t try to make them perfect. There is no cure for the human condition. Remember that you can loose everything in an instant. What does it matter then if it wasn’t perfect? You will still want it back. You will then understand how you couldn’t separate perfection from your own ideas about it. Perfection isn’t personal. Perfection always contains imperfection. There is no cure for the human condition.
What is achievement? What is success? Why do you worry about it? All you can do is to be as you are. Suffer the consequences of what you are. Live as you are. Love as you are. Grieve as you are. There is no cure for the human condition.
Be as you are and do what you do. Not until you are prepared to suffer the consequences of what you are will you get a glimpse of what is beyond the human condition. Not until you are prepared to suffer the consequences of what others are will you get a glimpse of what is beyond the human condition.
Most people choose to fight the consequences instead of accepting them. They think they are struggling for freedom, happiness, love, peace. But in that fight all is lost and they just suffer.
It is difficult to figure out what suffering the consequences of what you are really means. I can’t help you with this. You have to figure it out on your own. It’s different for everyone. All I can say is that it’s worth it.
Don’t look for a reward although a reward will come. Focusing on the reward means that you are not prepared to live the consequences. The whole New Age movement but also many religions have stopped at focusing on the reward, on getting what you want. If you do, nothing will ever happen and you will just go on suffering. Nothing that you want will have much meaning. You may not even know what it is that you want.
It is not easy to suffer the consequences of what you are. You have to give up all your ideas of how things should be and of how things really are. That brings fear and you don’t want fear. But if you are ready you know that there is no alternative. You have already tried it all and it didn’t work.
The more you suffer the consequences of what you are the more you are able to love, the deeper into life you fall, the closer to God, or existence, you are. You will “improve” automatically but by then improvement has lost its meaning since improvement is just a way of avoiding the consequences of what you really are.
The more you are able to suffer the consequences the truer to yourself you are, the more peace and freedom you have. But don’t look for the reward. Just watch your human condition. Be as you are. Be. As. You. Are.
I am all. All is me. Nothing is apart from God.
What God gives I will take. What God takes I will give.
What I am is the tiniest drop and the biggest expanse. The tiny drop demands all the attention. But I am both drop and expanse.
The tiny drop makes it seem like it is the biggest expanse and the biggest expanse seems like it doesn’t exist.
The tiny drop seems exceptionally important. The tiny drop wants and needs this and that. The tiny drop tries to be happy. The tiny drop works hard at protecting itself.
The tiny drop is afraid of so many things.
But the tiny drop and its world is just a dream, a miniature experience inside the biggest expanse. The tiny drop is rather irrelevant.
At the same time it’s very relevant and important. Sometimes it’s also fun and entertaining. As long as I identify only with the tiny drop I have to take it very seriously. I have to care for it and love it.
The tiny drop and its attached world have an enormous attraction power. It is irresistible. Life seems real, hot, close, personal. Stuff happens. The drop suffers, dives into pleasure, it desires and fears.
The drop is extremely involved with its own tiny perspective.
Not the other perspective.
Just like an ant lives unaware of the bigger world surrounding it, I am completely unaware of my own vastness, my own unlimited beingness. I live in a tiny part of myself.
When I saw my limitless expansion, the tiny drop dissolved into the ocean.
To have a body is a very special condition. If you didn’t have one you wouldn’t be able to do feel, think or touch. You also wouldn’t know what you are missing.
The body enables you to have the Earth experience. This may seem obvious but how often do you live your life from that perspective?
Most of us live from the perspective that we ARE the body. We take our body, its health and relationships for granted.
It’s unique to be equipped with a body. It’s exceedingly rare to have one. It’s like wearing priceless jewelry. Life is short, eternity is forever.
Be grateful that you get to walk the Earth in your shoes and see the Earth with your eyes. No one can walk and see exactly like you.
Pay attention to the perspective that your body provides you with. Walk the Earth as if every step were important. Because it is. Just like every word, every feeling is important.
But remember that the body isn’t YOU. It’s not who you are. It’s just needed for the Earth experience. It’s just an instrument we need for the three dimensional adventure.
Never quarrel with your body or its perspective. It enables you to have this earth experience. Don’t take it too seriously either. What comes will go.
There are no obligations except the ones you accept. Accept them with joy or don’t engage in them.
Love is the only thing that matters. It starts with you.
