From the publisher: The Last Star is the final book of poems in The Golden Passage, a trilogy by internationally known poet Charlotte Brady. The series boldly faces existential dilemmas that lie within each of us and releases profound responses that sweep across our minds and make us see ourselves and the world around us more clearly. Brady's method of keen observation combined with her lyrical use of language create a safe harbor for traveling beyond the boundaries of our minds and increasing our understanding of the human condition. Even though the destination is unknowable, the trilogy steadfastly moves toward truth and freedom. Traveling through fear, peace, acceptance and joy, The Last Star concludes the trilogy by arriving at the simplest and purest place of perception: “Now: Dog. Sunshine. Water. Tree. This. Is. Is. Is. Is.” What lies beyond is for each and everyone to discover for themselves.

A poem from The Last Star:
Had It
You ask me for help but don’t want to hear what
I’m saying. You want me to say certain words
but I can only say the wordless. You can’t
remember me, or you don’t know that I exist. I’m
not a magician. You think you are helpless but
you are a god. You think I’m different but we are
the same. Every day you beg while walking by my
side. You keep asking for help and I breathe for
you. It’s not my answer you are begging for. You
want your heart back but I never had it.
